Abstract: The famous Neukirchi-Uchida theorem from 1970's tells us that the isomorphism class of a number field is completely determined by the isomorphism class of the corresponding absolute Galois group. More recently, Y. Hoshi provided a functorial reconstruction of the number field, from (certain quotient of) its absolute Galois group. Such a construction uses the Neukirch-Uchida theorem. In this talk, I will recall the Neukirch-Uchida theorem and outline Hoshi's construction.
