Abstract: The Breuil-Mézard conjecture relates various Galois deformation rings using the local Langlands correspondence and modular representation theory. We describe how subvarieties of (fusion) affine Grassmannians can be used to model Galois deformation rings and prove a restricted version of this conjecture. This is joint work in progress with Le Hung, Levin, and Morra.
