Title: From theta functions to conformal blocks and Verlindeformula
Abstract: The moduli of vector bundles on Rieman surfaces isimportant in many branches of morden mathematics, eg. algebraicgeometry, mathematical physics, and geometric Langlands program.In this talk, l will give an introduction to nonabelian theta functions onmoduli of vector bundles, and conformal blocks which are defined byrepresentation theory.l will also discuss Verlinde formula whichcomputes the dimension of conformal blocks. To motivate theproblem, l will start with classical Riemann's theta functions and relatethem to line bundles on the Jacobian of Riemann surfaces.
