Title: Discrete integrability, algebraic curves and their Jacobians
Abstract: It is by now well-known that many complex integrable systems linearise on Jacobian varieties, or more generally on Abelian varieties. Such systems are said to be algebraically integrable. In a recent collaboration with Andrew Hone and John Roberts a recursion relation that we studied turned out to be what should be called discrete algebraically integrable. In my talk I will assume no familiarity with integrable systems and take the time to introduce these objects, both in the real, complex and discrete case, and explain in detail the beautiful connection with complex algebraic geometry.
