Abstract: In this talk, I will explain a geometric local constancy result for affine Springer fibers in families of close local fields. As an application, I will show that (regular semisimple) orbital integrals are locally constant in these families. This allows us, for example, to transfer the standard endoscopic fundamental lemma from characteristic zero to local fields of arbitrary positive characteristic. This is joint work with Sebastian Bartling.
