Abstract: This goal of this talk is to introduce some basic concepts of Arakelov theory. We will only work on arithmetic curves and arithmetic surfaces. The topics includes Arakelov divisors, hermitian line bundles, intersection numbers, and the arithmetic Riemann-Roch theorem.
